In observance of World Environment Day, Department of Biosciences in association with
Nature Club, organized an insightful seminar titled “Beat Plastic Pollution” on Thursday,
5th June 2025.The programme began at 11:00 AM with a solemn prayer led by Ms. Ganga
Muralidharan, Assistant Professor, Department of English. This was followed by a warm
welcome address delivered by Ms. Sheethal Rajeev, Programme Coordinator. Ms. Pinky
Thomas, Assistant Professor, Department of Biosciences, delivered the introductory
speech, setting the tone for the day’s environmentally focused discussions. Mr. Shijo
Pathadan, Principal in-Charge, IQAC Coordinator and HoD, Department of English,
delivered the presidential address. He emphasized the urgency of combating plastic
pollution and encouraged the academic community to be proactive in environmental
stewardship. The seminar was formally inaugurated by Ms. Rahimol Ramesh, HoD,
Department of Biotechnology at Al Ameen College, Edathala. She also served as the keynote
speaker, delivering an engaging and informative seminar on the theme “Beat Plastic
Pollution”. Her address highlighted the global crisis of plastic waste, its environmental
implications, and the vital role of educational institutions in spreading awareness and
driving change.
