Onam is not just a celebration of Kerala’s heritage; it’s a reflection of the values and traditions that define the state’s culture. The festival beautifully blends mythology, nature, art, and community, making it one of the most cherished and eagerly anticipated events in Kerala. We celebrated Onam “Thrikkavadi-2023” on 25th August 2023, Friday. The spirit of Onam came alive at college as the campus buzzed with excitement during the official function named “Souhradha Sadhassu”. Sri. T M Zakkir Hussain, Vice President of MES Kerala & State Coordinator of Onam Celebration delivered keynote address in which Adv. M Ahamed Kunju, Chairman of College Managing Committee presided over the function. Sri. Swami Thyagananda Theertha Padar, Athreya Ayurvedic Research Foundation,Aluva; Sri. M M Ashraf, Vice President of MES Kerala & Secretary of MES Nursing College; Sri. Pramod Thrikkakara, Secretary of Thrikkakara Temple Advisory Committee; Sri. K M Leiyakath Alikhan, President of MES Ernakulam District; Fr. Jaimon Joseph,Little Flower Academy, Kurumassery; Sri. E M Nissar Secretary of MES Ernakulam District; Smt. Preeja Kunjumon, President of Edathala Grama Panchayat; Sri. M T Ummer, Preventive Officer of Aluva Excise; Sri. Shanavas Shereef Wafy, Parekudi Juma Masiid Imam; Sri. K V Neelakandan Kartha, Senior Agriculturist; Smt. Swathi Lakshmi, Young Woman Writer gave onam messages and shared their memories on Onam. The event captured the essence of Onam through a series of engaging activities and cultural performance that brought the entire college community together. The festivities kicked off with the creation of a mesmerizing Onam Pookkalam at the heart of the campus. Students and faculty collaborated to design intricate and colorful flower arrangements

that adorned the college grounds.  The Pookkalam competition served as a visual representation of the cultural significance of Onam, fostering a sense of unity and creativity among participants. The college atmosphere was charged with energy as students surprised everyone with a lively and coordinated flash mob performance. The flash mob showcased a fusion of traditional and contemporary dance moves, celebrating the essence of Onam in a dynamic and entertaining manner. The spirit of friendly competition was on full display during the tug of war and spoon race events. Teams battled it out in the tug of war, exhibiting teamwork and determination. Meanwhile, the musical chair added an element of festive ambiance.  One of the highlights of our Onam celebration is the elaborate vegetarian feast “Onasadya”. The “Malayali Sreeman” and “Malayali Manka” competitions offered a platform for students to showcase their creativity, quick thinking, and sense of fun while embracing their Malayali heritage. The celebration winded up with an energetic “Chendamelam” and “Kavadi” performances. Adv. M M Salim, Secretary & Correspondent of College Managing Committee welcomed the gathering and Dr. Murugan R, Principal proposed vote of thanks.
